FAQ

  • Do you accept insurance for therapy?

No, I do not accept insurance. I offer self-pay therapy services, which means clients pay directly for each session. This private pay model allows for greater flexibility, privacy, and individualized care—free from insurance limitations or required diagnoses.

  • Why choose self-pay or private pay therapy?

Clients choose private pay therapy for a variety of reasons:

Confidentiality – your mental health records aren’t shared with third parties

No required diagnosis – we can work on any issue without labeling or coding

Flexibility – choose session frequency and length that works for you

Personalized care – your goals guide our work, not insurance companies

Self-pay therapy can feel more empowering, supportive, and effective—especially when you're seeking long-term growth.

  • What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process. Here's what to expect:

Initial Consultation: We begin with a free 15-minute call to explore your needs and goals.

First Session: We'll get to know each other, discuss your history, and begin identifying what you'd like to work on.

Ongoing Sessions: You’ll meet weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs. We'll use evidence-based approaches tailored to your situation, whether you're working through anxiety, trauma, life transitions, parenting, or personal growth.

Progress Over Time: You’ll notice increased self-awareness, clarity, and confidence as we work toward your goals.

  • Can I use my out-of-network benefits for therapy?

Yes. Many PPO insurance plans offer out-of-network mental health coverage. If eligible, you can submit a superbill I provide after each session to request partial reimbursement from your insurance provider. Be sure to check with your plan for details.

  • What are your therapy session rates?

Rates vary depending on the type of session (individual, couples, or consultation). I offer competitive private pay rates for therapy in Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and online throughout North Carolina. Visit the Services page or reach out directly for current pricing.

  • Do you offer sliding scale therapy?

Yes. I offer a limited number of sliding scale therapy slots for clients who need financial assistance. These are determined on a case-by-case basis. Please mention this during your consultation if cost is a concern.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

    I accept:

    Credit/debit cards

    HSA/FSA cards

    Zelle or direct bank transfer

Payment is due at the time of each session.

  • Do you offer therapy in person or online?

    I offer both:

Walk and Talk therapy on Sandy Creek Trail in Durham, NC

Virtual therapy across North Carolina, including Raleigh and Chapel Hill

Online sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform and are just as effective as in-person care.

  • What issues do you specialize in?

    I work with adults navigating:

    Anxiety, stress, and burnout

    Life transitions

    Perinatal and postpartum mental health

    High-achieving professionals and parents

    Trauma and relational patterns

    Identity and self-worth

Therapy is tailored to your unique experience—whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for something more aligned.

  • How do I start therapy?

    It’s easy to get started:

    Schedule a free 15-minute consultation

Ask any questions and see if we’re a good fit

Book your first session when you’re ready

You can reach out through the Contact page or email me directly. I’d be honored to support you.

  • How long will I need to be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, needs, and life circumstances. Some clients come for short-term support during a specific transition, while others engage in longer-term work for deeper healing and personal growth. We'll regularly check in on your progress and goals to ensure therapy continues to feel helpful and aligned. With self-pay therapy, you're in control of the pace and duration—without limits set by insurance companies.

  • Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes, virtual therapy (also called teletherapy) is proven to be just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy to clients across North Carolina, including Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Virtual therapy is especially convenient for parents, professionals, and anyone with a busy schedule—allowing you to access consistent care from the comfort of your own space.
